NCAA Final Four ahead for men’s basketball
Whitman's men's basketball team came from behind today to advance to the Final Four in the NCAA Division III tournament, after a close match-up against the University of Rochester in Marietta, Ohio.
In a nail-biter, Whitman trailed by three at the half and by 11 early in the second half before beating Rochester 91-87. There were 13 ties and 10 lead changes in
the back-and-forth game.
The Blues men—the only undefeated team across all three divisions—head to the Final Four for the first time in Whitman history and are the first men's team in Northwest Conference history to make it this far.
Jack Stewart '19 led the scoring with 22 points. Austin Butler '19 and Tim Howell '18 contributed 17 points each.
The team will take on Babson College in the national semifinals on March 17.
