In 1965, Whitman College student Bruce Jones helped organize a solitary march in Walla Walla for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the thousands of nonviolent demonstrators who, over five days and 54 miles, walked from Selma, Alabama, to the state capitol of Montgomery to register black voters in the South.

A pioneer in the field of sexual privacy, New York attorney Carrie Goldberg came to campus in April to discuss her work defending victims of non-consensual pornography, or revenge porn, the cyber civil rights initiative and the links between revenge porn and domestic violence.

Whitman College broke several school records today when sending out 2017–18 admittance letters. It topped previous benchmarks for quantity of applicants, diversity of students, and eligibility for Pell Grants.

The seemingly unrelated fields of sports and humanitarianism share at least three traits: sacrifice, heart and teamwork. The Whitman College men’s basketball team discovered and proved this on Thursday morning when performing community service at the HopeTree Family Services in Salem, Virginia, in between practices for their Final Four showdown today against Babson College at the Salem Civic Center.

The matchup against Babson College started well. The Blues took their first lead, 7-6, two minutes into the action, increased the advantage to 25 with seven minutes left in the first half, and held a four-point edge at intermission.

Whitman College men’s basketball team, the only undefeated men’s squad across all three divisions, practiced today at the Salem Civic Center in Virginia for their Final Four appearance there on Friday against Babson College.

The award goes to the team that, through civility and thoughtfulness, best exemplifies the spirit of the Ethics Bowl.
