Whitman ranks among the Top 10 Most Beautiful Colleges in the Pacific Northwest, according to Great College Deals, an online resource for prospective students.
The judges praise Whitman for being "built around the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty,” citing its picturesque trails, streams and ponds, as well as the college’s blend of modern and Victorian-style buildings.
Points were awarded based on criteria such as recent accolades, student enjoyment, notable features and other factors. Natural and architectural beauty also played a role.
The roundup includes some of the most aesthetically pleasing campuses in the country, and those considered the prettiest in the Pacific Northwest. Whitman is situated at No. 3 on the list, after the University of Washington in Seattle and Lewis & Clark College in Portland.
Last year, the site also recognized Whitman as residing in one of the nation’s Top 50 Most Romantic College Towns (Walla Walla ranked No. 11 for its wineries, art walks and other scenic charms).
