Adjunct Assistant Professor of English and General Studies Johanna Stoberock recently received an award from Artist Trust, a Washington state non-profit organization that grants funding for artists. In 2013, they will award $73,348 through the Grants for Artist Projects program, which has been in place since 1988.

Stoberock received a GAP grant so that she could continue revising her novella “Pigs,” the story of four children stranded on an island that serves as the repository for all of the world’s garbage. The novella uses a dystopian island as a setting to explore questions about environmental responsibility, group action and the possibility of innocence.
