George T. Welch Trust Donation Results in Free Registration for Fall “Together We Can” Shooting Clinics
Thanks to a generous grant from the George T. Welch Testamentary Trust, children in Walla Walla will have the opportunity to attend leadership-based shooting clinics at Whitman College FREE of registration charge this fall.
“We could not be more thrilled to continue to provide ‘Together We Can’ leadership based basketball camps and clinics free of registration charge to the youth of the Walla Walla community”, said Whitman Men’s Basketball Coach Eric Bridgeland. “Thanks to the George T. Welch Testamentary Trust, we have the chance to continue working with children in our community, regardless of their socio-economic background.”
Whitman College “Together We Can” Basketball Camps and Clinics, established in 2008 when Bridgeland and his staff arrived in Walla Walla, have partnered with local sponsors each year in providing year-round camps and clinics. In each of the past two years, the program’s summer camps have been offered to Walla Walla’s youth free of registration charge thanks to growing support from the community. This year will mark the first time that the annual Fall Shooting Clinics will be offered without the usual $75 registration fee.
The George T. Welch Trust supports community initiatives, scholarships for Walla Walla area students and grants to help those in need meet medical costs. For decades, the Trust has made these investments that improve the quality of life in the Valley.
“The continued growth of ‘Together We Can’ Camps and Clinics would simply not be possible without the generosity of some of Walla Walla’s philanthropic leaders who help make this experience possible. We are honored by their support and are proud to provide this opportunity for Walla Walla’s kids.” To register for the shooting clinics, parents can contact assistant coach Bryce Douglas at douglabb@whitman.edu.
