BB Squads at Linfield for Season Finales
WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College basketball teams wrap up their seasons tonight (Friday) with games against Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore.
The women's game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
In the first meeting between the two schools earlier this season in Walla Walla, it was the Whitman women and the Linfield men who came out victorious.
The Whitman women (11-13, 6-9 NWC) walked away with a 71-63 victory over a Linfield team that approaches the end of its season with records of 6-17 and 4-10.
Senior Hilary White and first-year teammate Kelly Peterson paced that Missionary victory with 16 points and six rebounds apiece. Senior Michelle Krall and another first-year player, Mary Madden, added 11 and 10 points, respectively, and both players also grabbed six boards.
In the earlier men's game, Linfield (11-11, 9-5 NWC) made 28 of 31 free throws in an 85-81 triumph over a Whitman squad that takes records of 12-12 and 6-9 into its season finale.
Sophomore Brandon Shaw and freshman Peter Clark led Whitman in scoring in that game with 21 and 18 points, respectively. Junior Daniel Davidson added 14 points.
