WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- A volleyball battle of the Whits, with both sides in search of their second Northwest Conference victory of the season, gets underway at 6 p.m. Wednesday when Whitworth visits Sherwood Center.

Whitman and the Pirates share the same 1-5 record in the NWC. The Missionaries are 4-8 on the season while the Pirates are 5-12.

Alex Graves, one of Whitman's senior captains, continues to rank among the conference leaders in three statistical categories. She is second in service aces per game (20 in 45 games), third in digs (4.09 per game) and fourth in kills (3.22 per game).

In the six NWC matches Whitman has played thus far, Graves is averaging 3.91 kills, which leads the loop for conference-only statistics.

As a team, Whitman leads the NWC in services aces at 1.98 per game. Sophomore Katie Miller, third in the conference with 19 aces in 45 games, also contributes 2.51 kills per game.

Courtney Brewer, one of Whitman's first-year middle blockers, is hitting .302 on the season, which ranks her second in the NWC. She is putting down 2.38 kills per game.

Junior setter Katie Richards is fourth in the conference in assists, handing out 8.78 assists per game. In conference-only matches, Richards is averaging 10.23 assists, which is the second-best mark in the NWC.

Carrie Cecil, one of Whitman's first-year players, leads the team in total blocks with 24. Olivia Nielson, another of the first-year Missionaries, has 23, one more than Brewer.

Whitworth's Randi Stephens, a junior middle blocker, is ruling the net for almost one block per game, which ranks her fourth in the NWC.

Pirate outside hitters Kaimi Rocha and Brynn DeLong pace the offense, averaging 2.22 and 2.15 kills per game.
