WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- For the second time this month, Whitman College senior Corina Gabbert has earned Northwest Conference Student Athlete of the Week honors for women's soccer.
Gabbert's latest award (for offensive players) comes after she booted six goals in three games last week. That scoring explosion included a hat trick -- her second this month -- in a victory over Pacific Lutheran.

Despite missing two games to injury earlier this season, Gabbert has 11 goals and four assists in just 12 games.
For the season as a whole, Gabbert ranks second in the NWC in scoring. In conference games only, however, she tops the NWC scoring list, averaging 2.44 points with 10 goals and two assists in nine games.
Gabbert's big week started last Wednesday, when she scored both Whitman goals in a 2-0 victory over second-place Whitworth in Spokane. She scored the only Missionary goal in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to first-place Puget Sound and then added her hat trick in Sunday's 5-0 blanking of Pacific Lutheran.
"It's great to have Gabbert back at full strength," Whitman coach Scott Shields said after Sunday's game.
"She's obviously scoring a lot, but the opportunities she creates for her teammates with her passing are even more impressive. It's only when you watch the whole game do you realize what a gifted player she is."
Gabbert, a two-time All-NWC First-Team selection, has boosted her career numbers to 37 goals and 10 assists.
A Whitman team captain for the past two years, Gabbert has won four NWC weekly awards over the past three three seasons.
Whitman continues NWC play this weekend with games at Pacific (Forest Grove, Ore.) on Saturday and at George Fox (Newberg, Ore.) on Sunday.
