There’s a new twist to Kappa Alpha Theta’s annual Cakes for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) fundraiser this year, held Friday, Nov. 13. In addition to creating and eating exotic pancake desserts (at a pancake buffet in the Young Ballroom in Reid Center) patrons will be treated to a competition of Whitman’s best dance crews, all vying for first place honors: Whitman's Best Dance Crew winner will perform the next night (Saturday, Nov. 14), as the opening act for the Street Dance Showcase, a professional dance crew performance sponsored by the Whitman Events Board.

And to top it all off, after the last bite has been swallowed and the winning crew has danced its way to the top, diners will have the satisfaction of knowing that all the money raised will go to benefit the sorority’s philanthropy: CASA, an organization composed of a group of judge-appointed volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in court in order to find them safe, permanent homes. The cost of admission is $5, and raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 each. Raffle prizes include gift certificates to Brasserie Four, Walla Walla Book and Game and Coffee Perk.

Who will take top honors? Who will eat the most pancakes? These important questions and more will be answered Friday, Nov. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Young Ballroom, Reid Campus Center. Bring your appetite and your generous philanthropic heart to this annual gastronomic delight—and help someone in need.
