WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Year two of the Eric Bridgeland men's basketball era gets underway tonight (Tuesday) at 7:05 p.m. when Whitman College squares off with NCAA Division I Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.

The Eagles are off to an 0-2 start this season, having dropped a pair of six-point decisions in recent days. They lost at home to the University of Portland last Saturday and to Washington State last night in Pullman, Wash.

Eastern Washington, 28-7 all-time against Whitman, last played the Missionaries on Jan. 10, 1995, and came away with a 90-78 victory.

Before that, there was only other meeting between the two schools since Eastern Washington became an NCAA Division I member in the 1983-84 season. That game was played Dec. 3, 1988, when the Eagles won at home 95-70.

Eastern Washington has won the last seven meetings. The last Whitman victory coming on Jan. 7, 1974, by a 68-62 score.

After tonight's game, Whitman returns home to host the Bon Appetit/Walla Walla Vineyard Inn Tip-Off Classic this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21.
