WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College women's basketball team puts its 4-0 record on the line later this week at a four-team tournament at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.

Whitman plays a pair of 4 p.m. games, starting with California Lutheran University on Friday. The Missionaries then face Washington University (St. Louis, Mo.) on Saturday. Live stats will be available for all of the tournament games.

Juniors Michelle Krall and Hilary White, along with sophomores Jenele Peterson and Rebecca Sexton, are at the core of a balanced Whitman scoring attack. 

White, who posted her first career double-double last weekend, is averaging 15.5 points per game, which ties her for third in the early Northwest Conference scoring stats. Close behind on the scoring front are Krall (14.0 ppg), Sexton (13.5 ppg) and Peterson (13.3 ppg).

Sexton, who also had her first double-double last weekend, leads the NWC in field goal shooting at 66.7 percent. White (51.3) and Krall (50.0) are also above the 50 percent mark, while Peterson (47.5) is just below.

Krall tops the conference in free throw percentage (95.7). Peterson is No. 4 (91.7) and Sexton is No. 5 (90.0). Peterson also is No. 2 in assists (4.0 apg) and No. 5 in steals (2.50 spg). 

California Lutheran, under first-year coach Roy Dow, is off to a 1-3 start this season, which includes a 69-57 home-court loss to Whitworth. Kourtney Jones and Nita Sims lead the Regals in scoring at 16.5 and 15.0 points per game, respectively.

Nancy Fahey, who has a 516-93 coaching record in 22 seasons at Washington University, has the Bears off to a 4-1 start this season. Kathryn Berger and Jill Brandt are averaging 11.2 and 9.4 points, respectively, to lead a balanced attack.

Whitworth, which alternates opponents with Whitman in the two-day tournament, is 3-3 to start its season.
