WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College men's basketball team faces Chapman University Thursday night in the opening round of the 61st annual Lee Fulmer Memorial Tournament at California's University of Redlands. The eight-team tournament continues through Saturday.

The Whitman-Chapman game gets underway at 6 p.m. Live stats will be available for all tournament games.
If Whitman wins its tourney opener, it plays at 8 p.m. Friday against the winner of a Thursday game between host Redlands and U.C.-Santa Cruz. If the Missionaries come up short against Chapman, they battle the loser of the Redlands-Santa Cruz game at 4 p.m. Friday.
Whitman is off to a 1-3 start this season, although it lost one of its games by two points and held a seven-point second-half lead in another of its losses.
Senior guard Chris Faidley is back where he left off at the end of last season, leading the Northwest Conference in scoring at 24.5 points per game. Faidley is shooting 49.2 percent from the floor (29-59) and 51.4 percent (19-37) from the 3-point line. He also leads the conference with 4.5 3-point baskets per game.
Guards Brandon Shaw and Jordan Wheeler are also scoring in double figures. Shaw, a freshman, is averaging 14 points while Wheeler, a junior, is adding 10.5 points and team-high totals in both rebounds and assists.
Chapman is 3-1 after losing its last game to Whitworth University by a 62-47 count. The Panthers have four players averaging between 10.0 and 8.0 points. Jared Kaiser, A 6-foot-6 junior, leads the way with 10 points and 7.3 rebounds a game.
