Sydney Saito shot rounds of 99 and 103 to pace a three-player Whitman contingent at the Northwest Conference Women's Spring Classic, played Friday and Saturday at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Ore.

Saito, a first-year player, finished with a 36-hole score of 202, finishing 13 shots in front of sophomore teammate Kelsi Evans, who shot 105 on Saturday after carding a 110 in the opening round.

Shawn Kelly, a Whitman junior, missed the first round but shot 113 on Saturday. A fourth Whitman player, senior Tamara Carley, missed both rounds because of an academic conflict.

Whitman was one of two schools unable to field enough players (four) to post team scores. Pacific and Linfield finished in a first-place tie at 724. Puget Sound was third with a 734 total.

Willamette's Whitney Ueno was first in the individual scoring with a 160. Linfield's Brynn Hurdus was second at 167. Pacific's Kelly Hartley took third with a 172.
