WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Stephen Phillips, a junior midfielder on the Whitman College men's soccer team, has earned NCAA Div. III All-West Region honors as chosen by the D3Kicks.com website.

Phillips, who has led Whitman in scoring in each of his three seasons, is one of only two players from the Northwest Conference named to the 11-member First Team.

The D3Kicks.com website, which began its first year of operation in September 2006, is dedicated to news about women's and men's soccer teams and players at 400-plus NCAA Div. III schools. All-Region teams were chosen based on nominations from sports information directors at participating schools.

Phillips, a Whitman team captain and graduate of Waterford School (Sandy, Utah), earned All-NWC First-Team honors last fall after scoring 12 goals and passing out three assists. He was the second-leading scorer in the conference.

The Whitman men's team finished its season last fall with a 10-9-1 record.

The D3Kicks.com website has yet to announce its all-region honors for Division III women's soccer. Whitman's Kristen Berndt, who finished her senior season last fall, earned D3Kicks.com All-Region and All-American honors following the 2006 fall season.
