WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Whitman's Michelle Krall and Brandon Shaw have been named Northwest Conference Student Athletes of the Week for women's and men's basketball.

Krall, a junior forward from Poway, Calif., averaged 18.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two victories at last weekend's NBC Camps Whit Classic in Spokane, Wash. She netted Most Valuable Player honors in the four-team tournament.
Shaw, a freshman guard from Dallas, Texas, averaged 18 points while shooting 54 percent from the floor as the men's team won two games and then dropped a one-point decision in the championship game of the 61st Annual Lee Fulmer Tournament in Redlands, Calif. He also collected 11 rebounds, 11 steals and 10 assists in the eight-team tournament.
Krall played a key role in Whitman's 72-60 victory last Saturday over nationally ranked Washington University (St. Louis, Mo.). With the Missionaries in front 42-35 early in the second half, Krall scored 17 of her team's next 21 points. Her scoring outburst over six-plus minutes included five straight 3-point baskets and helped stake Whitman to a 22-point lead.
Krall is averaging 15.5 points per game and ranks second in the NWC in scoring.
Shaw posted a strong effort in Whitman's championship finale against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps last Saturday. With the Missionaries trailing 60-49, Shaw contributed 12 points, two assists and a steal over the final eight minutes as Whitman came within a single point of catching the Stags.
Shaw is averaging 15.7 points and 4.1 rebounds through his first seven college games.
