“AN EVENING WITH MADAME F” REMEMBERS HOLOCAUST

WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- Claudia Stevens, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, will present a one-woman show remembering the Holocaust when she visits the Whitman College campus Monday, Oct. 25.

Stevens, performance artist, singer and composer, will present “An Evening with Madame F,” at 8 p.m. in Chism Recital Hall, Hall of Music, 137 S. Park St., Whitman College campus. Her performance is free and open to the public.

Stevens’ acclaimed one-woman performance depicts the wrenching survival story of women musicians in concentration campus through music, song and drama. “An Evening with Madame F” is based on the experiences of Fania Fenelon, a musician and cabaret singer who performed in the Women’s Orchestra at the Birkenau death camp World War II. Originally commissioned by the Richmond Jewish Federation, Stevens wrote the text and Fred Cohen composed the original music and electronic sound materials.
