Robart Hall Resident FAQ

Here’s more information about temporary housing for Robart Hall residents at Whitman College. Learn about move-in dates, College House accommodations, roommate assignments, kitchen access, billing and the timeline for moving into Robart Hall.

All students assigned to Robart Hall will begin the semester in College House.

Move-in day will stay the same: Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. Students can arrive starting that day and can continue to arrive through Sept. 1.

No. You can expect the move-in day process to remain the same. Please look for communication from Residence Life staff about scheduling a check-in time upon your arrival.

We believe it will be approximately one month. We will update this timeline as we have new information from the general contractor for the Junior-Senior Village.

We hope to avoid this situation, but we will continue to house students in College House and continue supporting them as they live there.

We are doing everything we can to make sure people can stay with their chosen roommates when possible. Some groups may need to be divided up to fit into College House rooms, which are mostly doubles and triples. We will be in touch with each roommate group individually about its assigned spaces.

The basics are similar. College House rooms come with standard residence life furniture, including a bed, mattress, desk, desk chair, wardrobe/closet and set of drawers. Each unit has a full kitchen, including a refrigerator and stovetop.

Yes, the kitchens are similar to those in Robart. You can have a meal plan as an option, but it is not required. The college will provide each resident of Robart Hall who has been impacted by the move to College House with some flex dollars.

No. Unfortunately, the college does not have enough storage space to accommodate everyone. However, there is a storage room in College House where students can put small and mid-sized items while they are not in use.

No. You will not be charged for housing during your stay at College House.

Residence Life staff will be in regular communication with College House residents throughout the fall and will update them on Robart Hall progress and the new move-in date.

No. To the best of our knowledge, students in Harvey Hall and Stegner Hall will move in Labor Day weekend as scheduled. However, the college is developing contingency plans in case this date proves untenable.
