Mental health services
According to numerous research, international students are much more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety and other mental maladies. This is partially results from the stress of being away from home.
At the same time international students do not seek mental help when they need it due to various cultural barriers.
If you are experiencing stress and anxiety that is difficult to cope with, you are not alone. In fact, between 1/3 and 2/3 of students report mental health disorders of various types and severity during their college career. Whitman College provides two resources to international students:
- Counseling center on campus
- Remote mental health counseling provided by Lewermark
