Alpine Ski Team

The Whitman Alpine Ski Team has been a part of Whitman’s campus community since the 1930s. Today, as a club sport, the team is completely student-run. It is a co-ed team of around 20-25 athletes each season who compete in the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Pacific Northwest conference.

The combined achievements of the over 400 alumni who raced for Whitman include:

  • 1 Olympic Bronze Medal
  • 6 World University Game Berths
  • 16 USCSA National Championships
  • 85 Academic All-Americans in USCSA and NCAA Division I
  • 269 All-Americans in USCSA and NCAA Division I

The team's schedule consists of 8 conference races throughout 4 weekends starting in January, followed by regional and national competitions held at various locations across the country.

Additionally, the team offers a weekend training session with the local ski resort, Bluewood, once a year. A great opportunity for racers to touch up on their skills or learn how to run slalom and giant slalom courses.

While no racing experience is needed to join the club, the team does require you to be confident in your skiing.

This team is a close-knit group with a lifelong love for snow and skiing!
