Gina Ohnstad joined Whitman in August of 2014. She brings more than 15 years of experience in the news business to the communications department. Gina most recently lived in Portland, Oregon, where she produced the 5:00 news at the NBC affiliate. Her newscasts earned the station multiple Emmy, Associated Press and Oregon Association of Broadcasters awards. Gina has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Outside of work, Gina loves to camp with her family in their VW van, and is an avid cyclist and runner. Keeping up with her toddler son does wonders for her training.

Prior to coming to Whitman College, Christie worked directly for C Suite Executives in various industries including several start up companies in the renewable fuel industry, software development and an online business to business exchange. Areas of expertise include accounting, human resources management and staff supervision.

Rebecca Devereaux is an award-winning multiplatform journalist from the Midwest. She joined Whitman's Communication Content Team in January 2018 after working as a multimedia journalist for a daily newspaper in southwestern Pennsylvania. Rebecca earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in photography from Point Park University. Her favorite pastimes are playing guitar and violin, shooting large format film and hanging out with her adorable cat.

Ryan Barnes joined Whitman in March 2018. He is an accomplished creative director with more than 16 years' experience with knowledge in brand strategy, creative direction, digital media, and web management. He served as a board member to Simple Measures, the Washington State Bar Association's Disciplinary Board, and the Seattle Opera's BRAVO! Club. He was previously the Assistant Director for Design & Brand Marketing at Seattle University School of Law. He has earned his BFA in Digital Design and MFA in Arts Leadership.

Chris Bishop ’79 oversees major campus publications, including development and alumni projects. A lifelong local resident, Chris graduated from Whitman with degrees in studio art and education. During the 1980s, she worked as a graphic artist and later was director of Carnegie Art Center. Chris and husband Larry Bishop ’76 live on a wheat ranch in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. For recreation, Chris practices figure skating and hones her improv dance skills. Nominated by her colleagues, Chris is a 2005 recipient of the Janice Abraham Award, which recognizes the significant contributions and outstanding service of Whitman staff members.

Michael Cox joined Whitman in January 2012. His role is to edit web content to ensure that pages and sites are accurate and effective, as well as to help members of the Whitman community enhance their web communications. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in visual communication design where he also worked as a cartoonist for the school's newspaper.

Gillian Frew '11 has a bachelor's degree in English from Whitman. She has written for the Huffington Post, Thought Catalog, The Oregonian and Seattle Metropolitan, and recently returned from teaching English in Spain. She has traveled to 25 countries and counting, and enjoys attending local wine events with her husband, Alex Ponnaz '11, who is part of the Enology & Viticulture program.

Bryce Heuett joined Whitman as the Digital and Social Media Specialist in June of 2017. Most recently, he worked at Washington State University where he served as the Social Media Specialist for the athletic department. Prior to WSU, Bryce worked at Whitman as the Assistant Sports Communication Director. Bryce graduated with his Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee in December 2014 and also owns a Bachelor's Degree in Communication from Southern Utah University. Outside of work Bryce enjoys watching and following sports, enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his wife and children.
