Amgen Scholars
Application period: October 2021 to February 1, 2022
Eligibility:
- U.S. citizens or permanent residents, if applying to U.S. institutions; international students are eligible to apply to host institutions in Asia
- Enrollment in accredited four-year college or university
- Sophomores (with four quarters or three semesters of college), juniors or non-graduating seniors (returning in fall to continue undergraduate studies)
- GPA of 3.2 or above
- Interest in a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D.
Award summary and conditions: The Amgen Scholars U.S. and Asia Programs provide hundreds of undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on research experience in science and biotechnology at thirteen of the nation's leading educational institutions (California Institute of Technology, Columbia University/Barnard, Duke University, Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University, University of California-Berkeley, University of California-Los Angeles, University of California-San Francisco, Washington University in St. Louis, Yale University, UT Southwestern Medical Center and National Institutes of Health), and four international institutions (Kyoto University (Japan), National University of Singapore, The University of Tokyo (Japan) and Tsinghua University (China)). Application process: Application process varies by university. Applicants may apply to as many host universities as interest them. At a minimum, a transcript, letter of recommendation and personal statement or essay will be required.
