Varsity Nordic is an improvisational comedy group composed, at any given time, of somewhere between 5 and 10 Whitman College Students. Improvisational comedy is a style of theatre where, rather than having scripts and memorized lines, the actors improvise characters, scenes, and dialogue off the top of their heads. Varsity Nordic does a number of shows for the student body every semester holding auditions at the beginning of each academic year.

Varsity Nordic also offers a number of improv workshops for students and community members throughout the year. They finish each year with "24-Hour Theatre Sports" which (as you would imagine) is a 24-hour long marathon of improvisation, the purpose of which is to raise money for charity.

Thanks to generous funding from both the Associated Students of Whitman College and the administration, Varsity Nordic has traveled to Chicago, the birthplace of improv comedy, to study improvisation with Second City and ImprovOlympics.
