Sorority & Fraternity Life
Whitman College has been home to national Sorority & Fraternity organizations since 1913, when Phi Mu Sorority was granted their charter. Currently, Whitman has four sororities including Alpha Phi (1948 and 2012), Delta Gamma (1916), Kappa Alpha Theta (1957) and Kappa Kappa Gamma (1918), who each have a chapter room and a lounge in Prentiss Hall, where sophomore members of each group reside. Whitman also has four fraternities including Beta Theta Pi (1916), Phi Delta Theta (1915), Sigma Chi (1923) and Tau Kappa Epsilon (1930) who each maintain a chapter house directly across the street from the main campus. Close to 20% of the student body are actively involved in Sorority & Fraternity life at Whitman.
