Welcome to Whitman College!
Adjusting to a college out of your home country can be a monumental task. Whitman College provides a special orientation program for our international students to help smooth your adjustment between home and college. International Student Orientation is mandatory and is free of charge. Attendance is required for incoming international students and international transfers. U.S. students who have lived abroad are encouraged to attend. International Student Orientation is sponsored by International Student and Scholar Services and includes a team of returning international and U.S. students who are here to help you get settled.
Schedule and Check-In
International students have two options in 2019 for orientation programming. Students who are flying to Walla Walla will be picked up at the Walla Walla Regional Airport.
- Aug. 19: Students who want to participate in the college's pre-orientation trips will check-in for International Student Orientation between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2019, at the Reid Campus Center. Orientation activities take place from Aug. 19-21, after which students will depart with their pre-orientation trip.
- Aug. 26: Students who choose not to participate in a pre-orientation trip will check-in for International Student Orientation between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at the Reid Campus Center. Orientation activities take place from Aug. 26-28.
All international students will be allowed to check in to their residence hall the evening of Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019. They will then join their fellow new students for the remainder of New Student Orientation activities, which begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.
A complete schedule of New Student Orientation events will be posted by June 15, 2019.
