John Organick-Lee

John Organick-Lee '14 joins the Alumni Board from Portland, Oregon. He has consistently sought ways to build community, foster meaningful connections, and support others in navigating Whitman’s opportunities. He believes that while a liberal arts education is not for everyone, it can be transformative for those who are well-suited to it—and those students should not miss that opportunity due to financial or structural barriers. He is committed to expanding access and supporting students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds.

John's professional work as an emergency medicine physician and educator has shaped his perspective on equity, mentorship, and the importance of strong support networks. He has mentored students and helped them build confidence in networking, career development, and self-advocacy, and understands firsthand how impactful alumni connections can be in shaping career paths and easing transitions beyond college.

He hopes to strengthen connections across students and alumni, expand inclusive engagement, and serve as a bridge between the college and its broader community, contributing as both an ambassador for Whitman and an advocate for its alumni.
