Cameron Conner
Cameron Conner is a Professor of the Practice at Tufts University where he teaches and researches international innovations in community organizing. Originally from Spokane, Washington, he has spent the majority of his career as a professional organizer with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF). In this role, he has worked with IAF affiliates in both Texas and Michigan, where he built coalitions between schools, faith-based institutions, nonprofits, and policymakers to address issues ranging from predatory payday lending practices and immigration reform to healthcare access and housing conditions.
Prior to beginning his career as an organizer, Cameron worked in international humanitarian aid, subcontracting under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and co-founding a non-profit dedicated to supporting primary healthcare, disaster relief, and education in Nepal.
As a student at Whitman, Cameron served as an RA and later Senior Resident in Jewett Hall, an ASWC Senator, and Student Representative to the Board of Trustees. Off campus, Cameron worked for the City of Walla Walla to spearhead the development and implementation of the City’s Neighborhood Engagement Program, an initiative aimed at actively helping neighborhoods organize and carry out local change.
