Mission
To provide positive support during and following pregnancy for girls and women who need help. We provide no-cost pregnancy tests, maternity clothes, adoption information, and counseling referrals.

Volunteer Opportunities
Generation Action is a young people's movement that seeks reproductive freedom. Generation Action members register voters, foster campus conversations about sexual assault, and raise awareness about reproductive rights. We also need outreach volunteers to table, collect petitions, canvas, and more.
Required Skills
Verbal and written communication, reliability and excellent follow-through, ability to lift/transport outreach materials, interest in public policy and education issues, comfort with people of varying sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, and racial identities, belief in pro-choice values and politics, and Spanish language skills are a plus.
Skills Learned
Community outreach, phone banking, tabling, networking, impacting social change, knowledge of reproductive justice and sexual health issues, political advocacy techniques and nonprofit experience.
Training
Staff orient and train volunteers depending on the opportunity and the volunteer's schedule at our health center or a pre-arranged meeting spot.
Volunteer Types
Individuals or groups who can come regularly, help on occasion, or contribute once to a big project. Students could start or join a Generation Action group at Whitman.

Volunteer Opportunities
Reading to children; helping with kids' activities while moms are in support group meetings; sorting donations; cleaning toys; misc. maintenance projects; weekly grocery shopping for childcare programs; office work; helping on childcare fieldtrips; making presentations to girls in Mariposa program.
Required Skills
Positive attitude; flexibility; Spanish language skills are a plus; confidentiality; ability to pass background check; must enjoy working with children.
Skills Learned
Organization; problem solving; working with groups; learning about community organizations and the culture of a nonprofit organization.
Training
There is no regular schedule at this point. Orientation and training will occur prior to volunteering starts.
