Requirements for All Grants

  • You must have been offered the internship before applying for the grant.
  • Proposed internship must relate to your major field of study.
  • Your supervisor must read your entire application and sign the contract.
  • You must write a mid-summer blog post with an on-site photo, fill out the final survey, and attend an autumn reflection dinner.
  • Students awarded grants must attend 1-2 mandatory workshops before the end of the school year.
  • Grants are only available to returning students.

Application & Due Dates

Applications for international students for Summer 2020 Whitman Internship Grants are now available.

The deadline for applications for internships within the United States are due March 8, 2020 to allow selected students to apply for OPT. 

The only deadline for applications for International internships are due March 8, 2020 as selected students do not have to apply for OPT to work abroad. 

U.S. Domestic Whitman Internship Grant

  • The application for Summer 2020 can be found here; note the final deadline to apply is March 8, 2020.
  • Internship must be in the US.
  • Internship must be unpaid (no wages; a travel, housing and/or food stipend is acceptable.)
  • Internship must last the majority of the summer.
  • The grant pays $3000 minus taxes.
  • There is an optional budget statement available for travel and housing expenses.

International Whitman Internship Grant

  • The application for International internships for Summer 2020 can be found here; note the final deadline to apply is March 8, 2020.
  • Internship must be in a country besides the US.
  • Internship must be unpaid (no wages; a travel, housing and/or food stipend is acceptable.)
  • Internship must last the majority of the summer.
  • The grant pays $5,000 minus taxes.
