Student Career Advisors
What is a Student Career Advisor (SCA)?
The Student Career Advisors (SCAs) are peer career liaisons of the Career and Community Engagement Center. They review resumes, cover letters, assist with job applications, Whitman Internship Grant applications & process, connect you with the Career Pathfinder and/or Whitman Connect, plus offer guidance in Handshake. They are available during their drop-in hours or for a 1:1 appointment that you can schedule over email.
Meet the SCAs
Kei Castillo '22
Hi, My name is Kei (pronounced Kay) and I am a senior Environmental Humanities major!
I am stoked to be an SCA this upcoming year! Whether it’s helping with a cover letter, looking for a summer internship or just chatting about the Career and Community Engagement Center resources, I hope to provide my peers guidance on future career opportunities. Looking for and applying to jobs and internships is intimidating, however, I’ve found it valuable to have an SCA read over my resume and help me look for summer intern opportunities. As a senior, I still use resources given to me as a first year when I apply to jobs and internships! As an SCA I aim to help students reach their goals and take hold of the many opportunities both at and outside of Whitman.
Ahmed Elsayed '23
My Name is Ahmed Elsayed. I am a Junior majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science, with a minor in Creative Writing. I love working with students and connecting with new people!
I am excited about this position because it will allow me to understand the diverse professional backgrounds of the Whitman Campus. Planning your career is tricky, hard, and full of stress. However, it is a vital part of your future journey. One of the questions that I hope I will help you answer is: how do the different experiences - social, professional, and academic - that you have on and off campus contribute to your career building?
Joy Nina Nampaso '23
My name is Joy Nina Nampaso. I am a Junior BBMB major.
I believe that planning for our future careers is a crucial part of our college experience. I am excited to interact with students and help them chart their future. Fun fact; I am fluent in four different languages!
Aby Ramata Mbaye '23
My name is Aby Ramata. I am a Junior majoring in Economics and Mathematics.
This position is a great opportunity to make use of the valuable experience I have gained as a club leader and as a tutor. As a student career advisor, I am looking forward to building bridges between affinity clubs and the Career and Community Engagement Center to facilitate access to resources and opportunities. I believe in the power of education and networking through dialogue and I love that Whitman provides amazing opportunities for students of all classes to gain work experience. I can’t wait to guide students through the crucial process of preparing for the future!
Kylie Rollosson '22
My name is Kylie Rollosson, and I am a senior majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Computer Science.
In the past I have worked as a mentor and tutor and was thrilled to put some of those skills to use when I started out as a Student Career Advisor. Getting to interact with the student body in all the different aspects of career readiness was both exciting and enriching. I know that planning for the future can be daunting. However, our goal as SCAs is to make the future seem a little more navigable, using tools such as Career Pathfinder and the Four-Phase Plan. Through the workshops and events we will be hosting throughout the coming semester, we hope to help our peers find what careers might fit their passions best. From there, it’ll seem much less intimidating to set goals and find opportunities for growth in the fields that fit best!
I am really excited to continue working as an SCA this semester, especially as our programming will allow us to connect more in person!
