Monthly Payment Plans
Whitman College offers an optional monthly installment plan through your billing dashboard. This plan allows students and families to break up their semester expenses (tuition, housing, meal plans, and fees) into manageable monthly payments rather than settling the entire balance at once.
Plan Structure & Important Deadlines
To give you the maximum number of installments, we recommend enrolling as soon as your semester charges post to your dashboard.
- Fall Semester Plans: Spread your balance over 4 monthly installments due on the 15th of each month (August, September, October, and November).
- Spring Semester Plans: Spread your balance over 4 monthly installments due on January 15th, followed by February 15th, March 15th, and April 15th.
- Enrollment Fee: A non-refundable activation fee of $60 USD is due at the time of registration each semester.
How the New Automated System Works
Automatic Rebalancing (No Math Required!)
Your payment plan is dynamically linked to your Whitman student account. If you change your meal plan, add or drop a class, or receive a new financial aid scholarship, the system will automatically recalculate your remaining balance and adjust your upcoming monthly installments. You will receive an automated email alert anytime a plan rebalances.
One Plan Per Student
To maintain accurate accounting records, only one payment plan can be active per student, per semester. Either the student or an Authorized User (parent/guardian) can set up the plan.
The individual who creates the plan becomes the official "Plan Owner." Only the Plan Owner can modify the saved bank accounts, update credit card details, or change the payment schedule.
Payment Methods & Auto-Pay
- Flexible Monthly Payments: You can fund your payment plan installments online using an eCheck, credit/debit card, or Flywire international payment.
- Optional Auto-Pay: Setting up automatic recurring deductions is completely optional. You can choose to turn on Auto-Pay to have your monthly installments automatically withdrawn, or you can log in to your dashboard to manually make your payment by each deadline.
- Processing Fees: Online payments made via eCheck are entirely free. Card transactions are subject to a non-refundable convenience fee, which is assessed and collected directly by the payment processor.
Important Terms & Conditions
- Missed Payments: If an automatic deduction fails due to insufficient funds or incorrect banking details, a $30 returned item fee will be assessed.
- Financial Holds: Non-compliance with your payment plan agreement may result in removal from the installment program and a financial hold on the student account. Holds restrict future class registration, online check-in clearance, and the release of diplomas.
