Billing Deadlines and Fees

To maintain good financial standing at Whitman College, please ensure your account requirements are completed by our standard semester deadlines: August 15 for the Fall semester and January 10 for the Spring semester.

Below is everything you need to know regarding tuition rates, campus housing costs, financial aid timelines, and clearing your account for registration.

1. Tuition & Core Fees

  • Standard Tuition: Per-semester tuition for the 2026–2027 academic year is $34,346.
  • Course-Specific Fees: Certain classes (such as those with dedicated lab environments, studio art supplies, or field travel) carry supplemental fees. These charges will automatically post to your live billing dashboard following the drop/add period, typically by early October for the Fall term.

2. Housing & Meal Plans

Your specific housing tier and dining plan selections are loaded directly onto your student account dashboard based on your arrangements with Residence Life.

  • Review Plan Choices: You can view a breakdown of current dining tracks on the Resident Meal Plans page.
  • Changes & Adjustments: Room changes or meal plan upgrades will reflect on your live dashboard in real time once approved. For any housing or dining adjustment inquiries, contact Residence Life directly at on_campus_housing@whitman.edu or call 509-527-5297.

3. Financial Aid Deadlines & Adjustments

Your live account balance continuously offsets your institutional charges against your anticipated financial assistance.

  • Action Deadline: You must formally accept or decline your institutional financial aid package via my.whitman.edu by August 1.
  • Outside Scholarships: If you are receiving an award from a third-party organization, notify the Financial Aid Office immediately at FinAid@whitman.edu so an anticipated credit can be applied to your balance before the payment deadline.

4. Online Check-In & Financial Clearance

Before the start of every semester, all students must complete their mandatory university milestones through the Online Check-In Portal.

To achieve financial clearance and avoid administrative delays or registration holds during your check-in process, you must have your account balance fully settled by August 15. Financial clearance is satisfied when your account balance is either:

  1. Paid in full.
  2. Formally enrolled in an active monthly payment plan through your billing dashboard.
