Senior Lecturer of Music, Director of Collaborative Piano
Jackie Wood, Senior Lecturer at Whitman College, is a musician and teacher who loves playing chamber music, four-hand and two-piano literature, as well as solo repertoire. She has taught at Whitman College since 1987 and has also served on the music faculty of Washington State University. Ms. Wood has concertized in New York, Seattle, Texas, Japan and throughout the northwest region, and has adjudicated many young pianists in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. A graduate of Whitman College, she earned her MMus, Piano Performance, from Washington State University. She has given numerous four-hand and duo piano recitals with her friend and colleague Lee D. Thompson, formerly of Whitman College, presently with University of Missouri at Kansas City. Ms. Wood has delighted in collaborating on many musical theatre and opera projects, serving as pianist/organist for First Congregational Church, and playing for the teachers and students of Summer Dance Lab, a summer intensive for pre-professional dancers. She serves as proud member of the Governing Board of Walla Walla Dance Festival whose mission is to bring professional dance companies to our community.
