Jenna Terry earned a BA with Honors in History from Wesleyan University and an MFA in Fiction from University of Houston.

In addition to teaching writing at Whitman, Jenna teaches at Walla Walla Community College and advises the newly-founded student literary magazine, Titus Creek Review. She has also taught at the University of Houston, and served as the inaugural director of that campus's Developmental Writing Program. Before moving to Walla Walla, she held a dual position as Assistant Director of the Writing Center and Founder / Director of the Writing In the Disciplines Program at the University of Houston, through which she designed curriculum and taught writing-intensive classes in Engineering, Hotel and Restaurant Management, History, and English.

Before launching her career in college teaching and university administration, Jenna was a book editor with Houghton Mifflin / Mariner Books. She continues to publish her own fiction, creative nonfiction, and scholarly writing. She received two university fellowships for her fiction while a graduate student, and in 2004 was awarded an Emerging Artist's Fellowship from the Cultural Arts Council of Houston.
