The Office of Fellowships and Grants works closely with Whitman students and alumni in their applications for national scholarships, fellowships and grants. Please browse our databases for these opportunities. Refer to our Fellowships Calendar for application deadlines.
Each year Whitman students earn generous awards for graduate study, research, teaching and public service in many parts of the world. Successful applicants have at least two attributes in common: a clear, compelling academic/career plan and an active extracurricular life of leadership and community involvement. Explore opportunities early to determine which fellowships, scholarships and grants best match your interests and experience. Work well in advance of submission deadlines. Every application requires serious thought and significant preparation.
Competition for national fellowships, scholarships and grants is keen, but as a Whitman student you are well-positioned and well-prepared. The application process is demanding, and there are no guarantees of success, save for the success that comes of greater knowledge and self-awareness. Start the process by exploring the resources on our Web pages. Consult our staff, faculty, advisers in your major and other mentors. Watch for announcements throughout the year, and visit the Office of Fellowships and Grants to tell us about yourself, your interests and your plans, in the academy and the world.
