Mr. Rossi has been involved in Music Education for over 40 years. He received a B.A. in Choral Music Education from Anderson College, Anderson, IN, in 1974. He completed a Master of Arts in Teaching at Grand Canyon University in 2002. He taught in Bloomfield, CT where he received extensive training and experience in the Kodaly Method in 1976-79. He taught in Montana for 23 years. He came to Walla Walla in 2000 to serve as Choral Director at Walla Walla High School until retiring from that post in 2014.
He studied conducting with F. Dale Bengtson and has done clinics with Dale, Anton Armstrong, Z. Randall Stroope, and Sharon Paul. His vocal coaches have included Greta Grey Dominic, Mary Moore, and Winnifred Ringhoffer.
Mr. Rossi has performed in and directed several Broadway Musicals. He has portrayed Tommy in "Brigadoon," Jesus in the Rock Opera "Jesus Christ Superstar," and Tommy in the Rock Opera "Tommy." His directing credits include "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," "Brigadoon," "The Boyfriend," "The Fantasticks," "Oklahoma," and "Guys and Dolls."
Mr. Rossi's choirs have performed at both state and regional conferences. The Cut Bank High School Choir (MT) performed at the 1985 MENC-NW Conference in Spokane, WA. The WWHS Treble Ensemble performed at Choral Banquet for the WMEA State Conference in 2004. The Walla High School Chamber Singers performed at the NW-MENC Conference in Bellevue, WA in 2005. The WWHS Concert Choir and Chamber Singers both received top honors at the Washington State Gold Standard Choral Festival in 2005 and 2006 at the University of Washington (the only years that event was held). The Chamber Singers received recognition receiving the "Judge's Choice Award for the Most Artistic Performance by a Mixed Choir" at the 2006 event. The WWHS Chamber Singers and Treble Ensemble received First Place Awards at the Columbia Basin College Choir Festival in April, 2013.
Mr. Rossi has published three choral works: "His Heart Sleeps," (text by C. M. Russell; Swan River Press). OutOfTime Music published "Never Seek to Tell Thy Love," and "The Garden of Love" (text by William Blake).
Mr. Rossi has been married to his wife, Debora, for 41 years. They have two children, Paul and Auralee, and two grandchildren. Mr. Rossi is an avid Fly Fisherman and can be found on the stream when time allows.
