Suzanne Morrissey

Associate Professor of Anthropology

Suzanne Morrissey received her BA in Anthropology from SUNY Oswego and her MA and PhD in Anthropology (with a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies) from Syracuse University. She considers herself to be a medical anthropologist who works mostly in North America, specializing in public health program evaluation. Professor Morrissey focuses her research on cross cultural medical systems and health disparities and enjoys dabbling in ethnographic film making and focuses her research. She is the producer of the film From Our Strength: Birth and Indigenous Politics in Cañar, Ecuador and author of the ethnography Life Strategies: Motherhood, Poverty, and the WIC Program in Urban America.
