The Judd D. Kimball Lecture in Classics is an endowed series which brings distinguished scholars to Whitman each year. Typically, the Kimball lecturer offers both a formal scholarly presentation and also participates less formally in a class being taught that semester.
There are many study abroad opportunities for students of Classics, but Whitman has chosen to partner with three rigorous programs, The Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies (Rome, Italy), College Year in Athens (Athens, Greece), and the University of St Andrews, (St Andrews, Scotland). Students studying abroad in Europe will have an opportunity to study the material remains of the Greek and Roman cultures.
Classics Colloquium is an informal series of meetings for students and instructors of Classics. Typically, participants consider a text or issue for interpretation. Classics Colloquium offers an opportunity for congenial conversation about the materials we study with no expectations for preparation or performance.
