Dr. Jamaica DelMar

Dr. Jamaica DelMar serves as Senior Director of Belonging and Inclusion at Whitman College, where she provides strategic leadership for initiatives that foster an inclusive, engaged and equitable campus community. She brings more than 15 years of experience in higher education spanning student affairs, teaching, organizational leadership, strategic planning and institutional change. Prior to joining Whitman, Dr. DelMar held leadership positions at the University of Arizona, including Director of African American Student Affairs and Director of Project SOAR in the Center for the Study of Higher Education. Earlier in her career, she spent over a decade in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, serving in a variety of student affairs and academic leadership roles that deepened her commitment to student success and educational access.

A first-generation college graduate, Dr. DelMar earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Throughout her career, she has led innovative student success initiatives, cultivated collaborative partnerships across campuses, taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and advised institutional leaders on advancing belonging and organizational effectiveness. Her scholarship and professional interests center on belonging, leadership, organizational transformation and the ways higher education institutions can cultivate cultures of trust, accountability and shared responsibility.
