Offices, Centers & Initiatives
The Division of Inclusive Excellence includes offices, centers and initiatives that touch on many aspects of campus life, including:
- Affinity Groups and Clubs: Many support groups, clubs and organizations to support culture and identity for students on campus.
- Employee Resource Groups: Voluntary, employee generated groups formed around a shared identify or common interest.
- First Generation Working Class Mentorship Program: Providing peer mentors for first generation and working class students.
- Glover Alston Intercultural Center: A vibrant campus space that includes campus resources and equity programs.
- Inclusive Excellence Council: A braintrust that meets monthly to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism efforts on campus.
- Offices:
- Equity and Compliance, Title IX and Sexual Misconduct: Working to ensure that every member of the Whitman College community has equal access to educational and employment opportunities.
- LGBTQIA+ Student Services: Centering minoritized voices within the LGBTQIA+ community and addressing the diverse needs of LGBTQIA+ identifying Whitman community members.
- Religious and Spiritual Life: Supporting students who wish to deepen or explore spirituality during their time at Whitman College.
- Posse Program: Through a partnership with The Posse Foundation, a cohort of around 10 students from Chicago are enrolled at Whitman each year.
- Third Space Center: A campus space and resource designed to center the needs, concerns, interests, histories and cultures of the wide-ranging communities of color at Whitman.
