FAQ
What is Shabbat?
Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath, occurs every week from Friday evening at sundown to Saturday evening at sundown. Shabbat commemorates God’s rest on the seventh day of creation. It is a time to stop our everyday activities — to rest, to think and to enjoy ourselves and others. It is a break from a hectic week.
Hillel-Shalom welcomes Shabbat with a short service and meeting among friends. The service includes a Hebrew blessing of Shabbat candles, Manishewitz wine, and challah (the holiday bread)
