WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Whitman College women's soccer team saw its three-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 overtime loss to Linfield Saturday afternoon in McMinnville, Ore.
"It was a hard fought game, and Linfield played well," Whitman coach Scott Shields said. "They got up on us twice, and we did a great job coming back twice."

Liz Forbes |
The Wildcats jumped in front 2-0 in the first 24 minutes of the game before Whitman staged the first of two comebacks to forge a 2-2 tie at halftime.
Senior Liz Forbes got the first Missionary goal in the 35th minute, knocking home the rebound after junior Kristin Innes bounced a shot off the Linfield keeper. It was the fourth goal of the season for Forbes and the fourth assist for Innes.

Amy Hasson #7 |
With less than four minutes left in the half, junior Amy Hasson took a pass from senior defender DeeDee McCormick and booted her second goal of the season to even the score.
After Linfield scored 15 minutes into the second half to take a 3-2, Whitman got the equalizer when senior Corina Gabbert converted a penalty kick with just over nine minutes left in the game. It was her 15th goal of the season.
"We were attacking into the 18, and one of the defenders was holding onto Corina to keep her from spinning away, and the referee called the penalty kick," Shields said.
In the fourth minute of overtime, Linfield pieced together a series of three corner kicks and cashed in the third one. "It was a great play for Linfield," Shields said. "One of the Linfield players got her head on the ball and drove it to the back of the net."
"It was a tough game for us to lose," Shields added. "It seems like we we're always behind and always chasing the game. That makes it tough to get any rhythm."
Earlier this season, in a game played in Walla Walla, Whitman rolled to a 4-2 victory over the Wildcats.
Statistics from today's game are not yet available. Please back later.
The loss drops the Missionaries to 6-8 in the NWC and 7-9-1 overall. The Missionaries play at 11 a.m. Sunday against Willamette in Salem, Ore.
