Lewis-Clark State Outpoints Corban Women

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Kim Preston and Nikki DePeel scored 18 points
apiece, and Sadie Short added 15 points and nine rebounds, to power
Lewis-Clark State past Corban College 84-76 Friday night in the opening
game of the Kim Evanger Raney Memorial Classic in Sherwood Center on
the Whitman College campus.
Lewis-Clark State, which led 48-33 at halftime, improved to 5-3 on the season. The victory was happy homecoming for Short, a graduate of nearby Touchet (Wash.) High School who played her first two collegiate seasons at Walla Walla Community College.
Katie Steigleman tallied a game-high 19 points to lead Corban, which shot 52.7 from the floor for the game and won the rebounding battle 38-33. Corban slipped to 2-3 on the season.
Both teams play their second game of the tournament on Saturday. After Lewis-Clark state faces Northwest University at 4 p.m., Coirban plays the tourney finale at 6 p.m. against host Whitman.
