Y. Nusse Posts Best Morning Times for Whits

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Senior Ysbrand Nusse gave the Whitman College swim teams their best individual performance in the Friday morning preliminaries of the Northwest Invitational at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.

Nusse had the morning second-best time in the men's 200-yard backstroke and the fourth-best time in the 200-yard individual medley.

Nusse's younger brother, Jamie Nusse, was fifth and sixth in the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle.

In the women's competition, sophomore Lauren Flynn had the fourth-best time in the preliminaries of the 100-yard freestyle.

In the men's 200-yard butterfly, Matt Rowett and Matt Liedtke finished fourth and sixth, respectively, for the Missionaries.

Eight Northwest Conference schools, along with the College of Idaho and Cal State East Bay, are competing in the Northwest Invitational, which concludes Saturday with a second round of morning preliminaries and evening finals.
