Track & Field Camp for Youngsters: June 11-14 at Martin Field

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Girls and boys between the ages of four and 12 who want to learn the basics of sprinting, hurdling, throwing and jumping are encouraged to register for a Youth Track & Field Camp set for Monday through Thursday, June 11-14, at Martin Field near Borleske Stadium.

Camp hours each day are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $46 and includes a camp t-shirt.

Youngsters can sign up through the Walla Walla Parks & Recreation Department. They also can register the first day of camp.

Campers will learn the fundamentals of sprinting, hurdling and other track & field events, including the long jump and high jump as well as the throwing events, according to camp director and Whitman cross country coach Scott Shields.

"We have an excellent staff of coaches and athletes from Whitman, Walla Walla High School and DeSales High School," Shields said.
