POSITION PURPOSE
The Climbing Wall Technician is responsible for general upkeep of the Climbing Center facilities. The wall tech is also responsible for facilitating improvements to the wall including adding new holds. The wall tech also oversees the work done on the wall for the Sweet Onion Crank in the spring. He or she is responsible for stripping the holds off of the wall prior to the setting of new routes.PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Maintain the Whitman Climbing Center facilities.
2. Complete maintenance projects as assigned by the Program Director.
3. Retire and replace gear in hardware when necessary.
4. Maintain proper inventory in the climbing closet.
5. Check the status of the tope rope anchors periodically.
6. Work to keep all holds on the wall tight and replace or fix spinners.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Necessary technical skills including lead climbing, rope ascension, route setting, TR climb and belay skills and necessary knots.
MEETING/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- All staff training at the start of each semester.
- Monthly meetings for all climbing staff.
