WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Fans unable to flock to Borleske Stadium to see this weekend's East vs. West baseball battle betwixt Whitman College and Eastern Connecticut can follow the action online.
Live stats are available at no cost while a pay-for-view live video service is also available. Please see the links at left.
The secondary subplot for the four-game series, other than the balls and strikes and ground-outs and home runs, is that third-year Whitman coach Jared Holowaty is hosting his father Bill Holowaty, who has coached Eastern Connecticut for the past 44 years (see related story).
The elder Holowaty has amassed nearly 1,400 career victories and four NCAA Division III national titles, the last of which came in 2002 when the younger Holowaty was a senior captain and first-team all-conference outfielder.
The series got underway at 1 p.m. Friday with a single game (in progress). A doubleheader starts at noon Saturday with the fourth game slated for 1 p.m. Sunday.
As always with early spring baseball, fans need to keep an eye on the weather.
As of 1:40 p.m. Friday, Saturday's Walla Walla area forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of precipitation with high temperatures between 41 and 46 degrees.
The forecast for Saturday also calls for winds between 30 and 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph.
Sunday's forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of precipitation with highs again in the range of 41 to 46 degrees but winds decreasing from 15 to 25 mph to 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
