Jimmy Madden

Whitman, which got six of its eight hits from freshmen, ended its Arizona trip with an 0-4 record.

The Missionaries plated their first run in the top of the seventh when freshman C.J. Pentland reached on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by freshman Kyle Buckham.

Whitman added a second run in the ninth. Senior Erik Korsmo was hit by a pitch and scored when first-year sophomore Chris Andrews stroked his first college hit, a pinch-hit single.

Casey Minnick

Freshman Jimmy Madden collected two singles, his second two-hit game in four days, and was also hit by a pitch.

Freshmen Cam Young and Casey Minnick both smacked doubles. Minnick has doubled in each of his first four games.

Whitman also got one hit each from Korsmo, senior Jay Richards and freshman Kyle Moyes.

Freshman Aaron Cohen started on the mound for Whitman and went four innings. He was touched for Cal Lutheran's first run in the second inning on a single, two wild pitches and a passed ball.

Sterling Spilinek

The Regals extended their lead to 7-0 in the fourth when Nick Boggan clubbed a three-run home run.

Cohen was followed to the mound by two more freshmen. Sterling Spilinek tossed the last two innings, holding Cal Lutheran scoreless on three hits.

The Regals finished with four home runs, one by preseason All-American K.C. Judge, a senior outfielder.

Whitman plays its home openers this Friday and Saturday when it hosts the four-game "Bud Kight Series" at Borleske Stadium.

The Missionaries square off College of Idaho in all four games. Twinbills begin both days at noon.
