Section Editor
Writers report to the section editors. The page editors are the creative forces of The Pioneer. Page editors are responsible for the quality and content of their respective pages. This includes assigning informative and relevant articles, photos, and illustrations for their sections, maintaining communication with reporters, communicating with other sections, conducting content-based edits of articles, and building and maintaining contacts throughout the Whitman and Walla Walla community, when applicable. Page editors must be in close contact with the production team and are expected to give weekly influence as to the layout of their page. In the long term, they work to improve and revise their page in content and form, and collaborate with the Editors-in-Chief to create a vision for their page that corresponds with the overall direction of the paper. Page editors must attend the weekly article meetings in order to maintain consistency and high quality standards and are encouraged to sit on the Editorial Board.
Page editors must be organized and have excellent writing skills. They must be devoted to their section and writers, and be able to keep track of a large quantity of information. They should have an interest in helping teaching incoming reporters about journalism.
