Anthony Blow is a United States Merchant Marine Officer with extensive experience in environmental regulation of the maritime environment; international trade and logistics; and maritime security issues. He was recently involved in anti-piracy operations throughout the Gulf of Aden and will be speaking of his own experiences in the context of larger socio-economic and political issues, such as the illegal fishing of various companies into the coastal waters of Somalia, environmental degradation caused by illegal toxic waste dumping, the Somali government's breakdown and inability to provide coast guard patrols, and responses by other actors (US, China, India, EU, etc) towards pirate attacks.
