Walla Walla, WA – For the second time this season, Whitman forward Ben Eisenhardt has been named the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. The 6 – 10 junior from Bainbridge Island, WA averaged 20.5 ppg in two home victories this past weekend over Linfield and Willamette, scoring his second highest career total of 27 against the Bearcats.

As important as the high point total, was the timing of many of Eisenhardt’s buckets, many in the second half stymied Willamette rallies. He also drew a key charge to nullify a Bearcat fast-break hoop.

“Big Ben” also received the Student-Athlete honor back on December 29 after he scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Missionaries beat Simpson College, in addition to playing an instrumental role in a win over Walla Walla University.

Eisenhardt currently ranks third in the conference in scoring (16.9 ppg), fourth in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (55.6 %).

This is the fifth time a Whitman student-athlete has won the award during the Winter Seasons. In addition to Eisenhardt’s two honors, Men’s Basketball player Josh Duckworth, Women’s Basketball player Heather Johns, and Men’s swimmer Karl Mering have been named conference Student Athlete of the Week.
